Default Oil cooler line routing, critical? Help!!

I am putting my oil cooler lines on and I am following a diagram for my original rigging year. However, for some reason the way the fittings mate together does not exactly match the drawing.

Soooo....here is my question.....what side of the oil filter is in and out? (center or outside?) and what side of the block adapter? I am guessing they would be the same.

I am figuring this is critical so all help is appreciated!!!

Outside is into the filter, center is out of the filter.

Center of filter pod to center of block adapter.
