I guess it could be done, but you would have to put the correct bypass in the block up above the oil filter (in the center opening where oil goes back into the block) if it is a Gen V/VI. Most people just use the stock lines and remote filter, although I went with a sandwich oil filter adapter that allows the filter to mount in the stock location while feeding oil to the cooler. I did this to incorporate an oil T-stat, while at the same time eliminating about 5 feet of hose and the fittings that go with it. This was an effort to increase overall oil flow. It does make it a bit of a biotch to change the filter - hard to reach, limited on filter size, and always leaves a mess in the bilge when I change it.

Ok. What do you mean by correct bypass valve? This was originally a Gen V truck block. Iv got the original oil line holes in the block plugged with pipe plugs. Oil filter screwed into stock location, high volume Melling pump, Gaffrig electric oil pressure guage at boss above oil filter pad and mechanical Autometer oil pressure guage with sender mounted in forward most oil galley. 60-65 psi at idle, 80-90 psi 3000-3500 RPM. Should I loop the stock oil line holes in the block together? I also dont care about mess in bilge, trying to avoid the 5 ft of oil lines
