Default Fountain of Youth Products (a before & after)

I know Glass Dave has posted some before and after photos of his work with Fountain of Youth products. I too have drank the Fountain of Youth "Kool Aid". I have been using their products exclusively for about a year. I had the pleasure of working on a 1988 Chris Craft that appears to not have been washed, waxed, or polished since the mid-90s........ The finish I began with had absolutly no reflection at all. As a matter of fact, I scrubbed it with a bucket of clean water (no soap), just to see how dirty the surface really was. After only a few wipes with a wet rag, the bucket of clean (clear) water was transformed into a milkey white fluid. THe oxidation was so bad plain water was rinsing the oxidation off. Well I figured I had my work cut out for me. But once again, I was amazed at the power of the Vibra Cut Compound. Below is a before and after shot showing the lack of reflection (with a Coke Can) and after being hit with Vibra Cut COmpound only (have not followed up with any other compund yet). I think the phots speak for themselves. I would never even thought about taking this job, if not for the Fountain of Youth products.

One day I hope to have time to clean my own boat up. Fortunately for me, I keep it cleaned and maintained with Fountain of Youth Vitreo Polish....

I am not reponsible for the condition of the bottom paint. I was hired to wheel/polish the hull.

Here is a few quick photos I took of a 30' Maxum I worked on over the weekend. It wasn't in nearly as rough shape as the Chris Craft, but was still in need of some love. The customer was blown away with the results.

I am about to start my cleanup/Hull-Deck restoration and have some questions? Read thru many of the threads but not exactly clear where to start? I have an Eliminator Daytona which is partial Gel an partial paint (50/50)... The paint is in good shape with some minor scuffing/dull area's but nothing major... The glass/gel is dull and has very slight yellowing... My thoughts was Totally Buff then -> Vitreo ...

When applying I see it is recommended wool for gel n foam for paint... Since many of the area's run into each other/overlap any opinion best way to manage this?

I would suggest Vibra-Cut First, Then Totally Buff, then Vitreo. On solid white boats, I can get away with Vibra-Cut then Vitreo. However colors show swirls more, so thats where the Totally Buff really shines (pun intended). The Totally Buff does a great job of taking care of minor scuffs, scratching, hazing, and swirls. The Totally Buff dries faster as it is a drier product. The Vibra Cut is a bit wetter. I also use Wool pads for all three. However if you have large painted areas, you may want to use a foam pad with the Vitreo.

Everyone has their own way of doing thing. While my method works great for me, others may diagree. I am sure Glass Dave will chime in soon. He uses the Fountain of Youth products too. He may have a totally different Theory/Method.

When it comes to buffing, polishing, and waxing, I'm the type of guy who will fuk it up 7 ways from Sunday. I ordered a bunch of different FOY products last year and couldn't be happier with the end result. All the other waxes and compounds in my shop are now in the dumpster.

I have found that the FOY products are more forgiving and easier to work with. A few years ago I would not have even thought about taking the job on the Chris Craft pictured....
