Default Formula F-18- part it out or put it back together?

Ive tried selling this boat for the last year, but only had one guy really interested but he backed out when he got scared because of issues with the bottom paint. I'm pulling the engine, drive, gauges and maybe the hydraulic steering and putting those parts in the 86 242 I have. My question is do I take the old engine outdrive gauges, steering from the 242 (it is a 260HP 350) and put them back into the F-18 with the hopes of selling it cheaper or do I just part out the F-18 and then try to sell the hull. I dont want to have to sink a bunch of money for parts (transom assembly seals, gimble boots, exhaust tips, steering cable, exhaust hoses) and time into putting back together a boat nobody wants to buy, and in the end still part it out.

Here is the ad which shows all the parts in the F-18.
18' Formula completely & professionally restored in 2006. Complete 2006 Mercruiser package: 350 Magnum MPI motor (310 HP), Alpha 1 out drive,
299 hours on engine and outdrive,
SS 3 blade prop,
Corsa Silent choice exhaust (either thru hull for loud or thru prop for quiet),
Thru hull exhaust with 4" chrome slant cut tips,
Bennett hydraulic trim tabs,
New Rule 500 GPH bilge pump
New bucket seats and vinyl in 2006 (just had the rear seat bottom recovered),
hydraulic steering with tilt wheel,
Digital SmartCraft Tach.
Livorsi oil, coolant, battery, fuel level gauge
Livorsi depth sounder,
Kenwood stereo/CD with Sony amp & Sony 3 channel speakers,
Dual batteries with cut off switch,
remote control interior lighting,
black Sunbrella bimini top,
Bow, Stern and midship pop up cleats,
docking lights,
new custom mooring cover 2008,
Danforth anchor.
3 set of lines
2 bumpers
Porta Potti that stores under the bow
New gimbel bearing and U joints in 2010 @ 250 hours
custom tandem axle bunk trailer with surge brakes and two brand new spare tires,

FWI- the reason Im pulling the engine and installing it into the 242 is because I wanted to make the 242 easier for my dad to use (EFI)

first, list empty hull for a grand or so and see if you get any interest. swapping 2 sets of guages is a lot of tedious work. almost as much as swapping 2 whole power packages. i would leave them where they are and replace any bad ones in the 242. definately keep the hyd steering. costs a lot-worth more. and doesn't re-sell for much. i would think the F-18 with the 260 setup running and driving would be worth $3k or so.

its super clean, find a friend or relative to buy it, looks as tho everything has been replaced. I knew a guy that had a 83 fourwinns with the original engine was as nice as most new ones sold it for 6k to me it was a 3500.00 deal theres always someone willing tp pay, didnt see what you were asking for your boat. if your just selling the hull, well that's going to be hard to do

and your 350 MPI package cost about 10k or up. can't sell for much, but i can see why you wanna keep it. list the boat for 2 grand with all the parts to put back together. that way, you sell all the parts and have space in garage plus you don't have to rebuild it yourself. once you start to reassemble, it needs this bearing, it needs this seal, what the heck i'm in there might as well do the fuel pump...and you have rebuilt the whole boat instead of putting back together and another 1k has been spent...that is a clean little boat, i would give away empty hull before i cut it up. i couldn't kill that pretty little beast...

I had one and it was a killer little boat. Don't see to many of them, it would make someone a nice entry level ride.
