Can you order a big tank of non highway fuel for your boat. It way cheaper..... And it's not like you are burning it on the road...... Farmers get non road diesel all the time. Just a thought ....

In Virginia you can keep your receipts and turn them in with a form that states you did not use the fuel for road use.....the state refunds the road tax portion for each gallon you purchased. ($0.17/gal last I checked0

a friend of mine owns a fairly large construction company,he has his own fuel tanks, both gas and diesel,on and off road, the state has the right to check the tanks in his trucks whenever they want to,and they do random checks.i think it would not be cost effictave for us boaters to buy a tank to fuel our boats and most city,s probibally wont allow a above ground tank in the yard but probibally ok if you live out of town.i do know some farmers that have tanks for there tractors.

I have been on job site where the state shows up and starts checking everything to be sure the on road trucks have the right gas. It's big fine if your burning the red stuff on your on road truck.

Down in Missouri you can get a refund for the road tax paid if you keep all of your gas receipts... The marina that we fuel up keeps them for us and sends in the forms for us so it's pretty easy.... All we have to do is pay the bill and wait for the refund check sometime in the Spring from the State...
