Default Gauge help

My boat has newer 2003 496 mag h.o. motors in it and the boat is a 1997. I am going to re-do the entire dash with all new gauges etc....my question is what gauges will work with this engine..? Currently I have a few that are not reading because the previous owner told me that they could not be hooked up. Water pressure and oil temp do not work because he said that with the newer engine there was no way to make them work. Does anyone know if that is true or if I can make them work somehow..? I am trying to layout the new dash and I just need to know what gauges to order.

Do you know what gauges you want to use? I just replaced my speedo and had a good experience with livorsi.

i think has to do more with the connections and not the engine. newer gauges have poles on the back I beleive. So I think you have to either get an adapter or cut the wires off at the connections and redo new ones.

I can't see why they couldn't be hooked up. All engines have water pressure and oil temp., I think the previous owner didn't know where to read them from. Livorsi or Gaffrig are nice

I am going with all Livorsi for sure...

I know the new Livorsi gauges come with a plug on the back instead of the poles which is nice I just want to make sure that the provisions on the motor are there for the gauges to work.

Call their customer service. I'm sure they can tell you what you need. I've dealt with Steve Miller and he was very helpful.

If you have Mercury engines, the Livorsi gauges will work without replacing senders.
