Default Need help! Raw sea water pump

Hello, I have a 2001 496 mag and I need to replace the sea water pump housing due to scoring on the inside. The part number on the side is 862914c. I'm told the new number for this is 862914-t05, but all the aftermarket ones I find say t-10 or t-08 or something. I really can't afford the $600 or more price of mercruiser brand right now. Can someone who knows more about this give me any ideas?

Several on ebay for about $320 - $360. Just pick the one that looks like yours.

Buy a Hardin marine unit and never look back....400 for the whole Assy and then 100 bucks to rebuild with everything.

+1 been there done that the hardin pump works very well for little more than half the price & uses standard bravo impellers that can be found cheap & everywhere. Randy

I just installed the hardin pump on my 496. Quality pump that works well. For the money you can't beat it.

Thanks for the help guys, it looks like the Hardin pump is the way to go. I just can't get over mercruiser making such a piss poor product that is so costly.

Welcome to boating, right?

You'll be happy with the Hardin unit.

It seems year after year to be the most troublesome part of any sportboat. You'd think they would put some more engineering effort there.
