Default Rustoleum over Bilgekote?

My Bilge is painted with white Bilgekote. Been looking into threads here on using Rustoleum with a hardener. Going to degrease bilge and scuff with a red pad and then wipe down with acetone. Will the Rustoleum adhere to the Bilgekote and last? Also what Rustoleum should I get? Is it something that can be picked up at Lowes or Home Depot? Thanks.

Whatever you do please don't use that ****! I have used it twice and it does not dry and is the ****tiest paint I have ever used. I just did mine in DuPont Imron. They have a brushing/rolling solvent. It is the best most durable paint you can use.

I used sherwin williams macropoxy and that is some tough stuff...but expensive! It is epoxy, so if you have to make any repairs to to what is underneath it no traditional poly or vinyl glass can be laid over it, the topcoat would have to be ground off. My brother used white gel coat on his and it turned out well also. The imron is a two part also and is tough...just wear a mask!

Just got done doing mine with Sherwin Williams macropoxy I used the primer and then the top coat, my bilge was rough so used the primer to help fill, which you my not need that, I didn't think the price was bad, I buy all my paint there so they give me the contractor price my be that's the difference, heck a QT of interlux bilge coat is $50 the top coat of SW which come in a gal. and with a QT of hardner cost me $120 and I used 2/3 of the gal for 2 real good coats, if you do need the prime which is also epoxy, that come in 2 gals one harder, one color, mixed 1to1 that was only $105, put 2 coats of that than I sanded the primer with 180gt that stuff is thick and it filled a lot of imperfections, then put the top coat over that, imron is great also, but can't get in PA. anymore...here's a little before and after for you... Rustoleum 2 part epoxy works well but the finish does not have much gloss. I used the epoxy as a primer and put Awlgrip on top.

I got a 40% discount on it and paid about what you did but the regular price is quite a lot. I cant remember prepping very much but I did make sure everything was clean. It is not quite a gloss but really like the finish...draws attention to the motor and is an easy cleanup. It gives you a lot of work time as well

When I got my stuff they asked me what color I wanted it, I told them gloss white, that's what it is... it's real glossy and as hard as a rock already, was working in the bilge all day it is real slick though...

i also used sherwin wiliams but i use the polyurathane marine enamil with the hardener,,this stuff it as thick as latex and you can fill voids with it and it will still harden like a rock..they give you one FULL gallon and a full qt of hardener for like 116.00 a gallon for white..you can also thin it and spray it on but not needed because it flows out real nice..it also smells exactly like imron..

Hey guys, I stopped by the local SW dealer, they're have a 40% off sale so I'll be getting paint sooner than I thought. My question is, they were saying to use a product called Tile-Clad High Solids epoxy. The product info sheet says protective and marine coatings. Is this what macropoxy or marine enamel is???
He did ask if it would be in the sun or not.
Thanks for the help.
