I have a 2002 Brave, lighter then the older ones. I run 502 EFI MAGS, Bravo Drives with 1.36 Ratios no boxes. 24 rev up merc props. I get sold high 70's no matter the conditions. Have hit mid 80's with light fuel no gear and only a couple people on board. The Brave doesnt like flat water you will need some chop to get the best out of it. I have been told by a couple people if I swapped out the 1.36s for 1.50s and larger pitch props i would pick up some top end. Not really a top end boat, wave crusher YES. Great ride and handles like a dream. AWESOME boat, enjoy and have some fun. Happy 4th Guys. Enjoy and be safe.

I always wondered what the Brave would do with ext boxes and shorties? Mine had a pretty deep X dim, and would poirpose if allowed -- i think ext boxes with -2 shorties would free up 5 mph.
My old one is running around 76mph with 26 bravo 1's at about 5500 rpm, the engines dynoed at 600hp at 6000rpm --without looking at the dyno sheets i would assume that at 5500 theyre around the 550 mark
with the 700's/ xr's that i had in it the best i saw was 85 mph with herring 32 5 blade props -- 1.5 ratio drives
I think there was alot left in the setup on the drive end of things-- they are heavy, mine weighed in at 7200 lbs dry...

How'd the imco's work ?

Mel Riggs had a older 28" Brave in the shop when I picked up my Brave. That one had 600hp built bb and imco boxes on it. He said it woke the boat up when they did that to it.

Ok I just spoke with Mel, Mel said the older Brave with 600hp bb with boxes ran about 92mph to 95mph. I called Bobby to ask him some questions about running my boat and I brought up the boxes idea. He said running Boxes on the Brave is not a good idea. He was saying the boat is a little too small for the boxes. He also commented on the fact that boxes make the boat a wild ride. Center of Gravity and weight at that point are all wrong. I hope this helps. I have spoken to Bobby many times now about my boat. He always takes my call and always has some really advise. Plus he is really fun guy to talk with. Great Person and Awesome Boat Builder.

So are you guys running three blades for four. I have 502's running three blade 28 pitch props. No idea on a true top end. Also thinking about adding nose cones this winter.

Wow that sounds like an ultra cool boat. But in my opinion you may not really be going fast enough that you would "need " nose cones, not saying you dont still want some, By the way if you do I have several brand new IMCO cones for some reason here. Some with water pickups some not. Later...Love your boat by the way, and you'll have to stop by to see my new boat, or should i say kayak.
