Default 2001 25 Outlaw - SPEED ISSUES / PROP

I have a 2001 25 Outlaw with a 502 MAG MPI all stock with a 23p mirage plus STOCK

Best I get on GPS is 62mph @ 4500rpm 1/4 - 1/2 tank of gas with 2 people

I contacted bblades to lab finish, he says best Im gonna get is 2-3 more rpm and mph

Shouldnt I be able to get 68-69 mph on gps and closer to 5000 rpm

thoughts?????

Your motor could be tired? the 502 should push a stock 23 m+ to 49-5000 easily with full fuel and a cpl peeps. My 454 used to run at 48-4900 at 63.. best was spring 2 ft chop 64.7 at 5k.

Has it been tuned up? Wires, plugs, etc.

Rpm gauge right? Are you trimming out till it blows then down a touch? Should definitely push that prop faster.. what is your 4k speed .. should be around 49

If it is rigged at the stock X-dimension that Baja set and you're seeing a rooster tail you might be trimming up too much and in return the prop isn't working efficiently. There are a lot more guys with a ton more knowledge on this forum that might be able to help with your concerns.

Also, I would suggest searching around the Baja forum towards the bottom, you may also find help there as well.

This is a Mirage +? Try a Non+ Mirage, you'll get some more rpm and maybe a tad more speed.
If he is trimming too high his rpm would be higher & speed lower, I don't think that's it. Any Idea on your boat weight?

I thought of the RPM being higher as well, but if it is looking like a "jet boat rooster tail" with Baja's X and it being all stock then something is not right somewhere. Unless there is some kind of lab on the prop with a big cup? Play Loud 3, are you the original owner? Has there been any work done to the prop?
