Default Need Part Numbers for Gen V/VI 454 flywheel - cast crank versus forged

Seems like I read somewhere that the Gen V/VI 454 mag (forged crank & pistons) takes a different flywheel than the 7.4L with the cast internals. However, I need part numbers for both so that we can verify which flywheel we need versus what we already have on hand. Boat came with twwo cast crank motors in it, but it was kind of cobbled together so I don't want to assume that the correct flywheel was used.

Thanks for any help!

1995 to 1996 the crank is part number 429-8550 and flywheel is part number 230-6540 GEN V

Later GEN VI

Hello, I am also trying to verify if the crankshaft i have is a forged casting and if my rods are the hi-po type and if pistons are forged, it is a gm crate 454 4 bolt main ( for sure i got pan off) and has a tag saying manufactured for gm with p/n 88890529 and a casting on block of 12550313, this is not on the mortec list, any help greatly appreciated

If this is your crate engine spec'd as per the GM P/N 88890529, click on link and then "see more specs". If you engine was a crate engine or salvaged, as a reference, we had a suburban 7.4 L from that era of engine (pre vortec) and they were only 190hp or 230hp for the Alu heads - cast cranks

I did see that summit engine, and the short block i have did have aluminum heads ( and the 1st pieces taken off & sold) and the upper summit description of engine says internally balanced, then as u read on it says externally balaced, but also says unavailable. Im thinking i read somewhere that the internal balance aluminum head was cosidered performace ( if 220 hp qualifies, lol) but has steel crank and dimple rods????? Or am i just dreaming

you have to visually inspect everything inside the pan - what it started out as may not be what it is in its current rendition...

Cast vs forged identification -
