Question Ethanol Eating My Stainless Braided Hose

This past winter rebuild I opened up the filters and found different kings of junk in it,some I cant identify,When I fired it up in the garage one line was spewing fuel straight out of the braided part of the hose, upon tear down the hose looked like it was deteriorating,so now I believe its the ethenoal that's doing it,The hoses were all new in 2005,Earls Preformaflex #10. I have looked at the filters every winter and never had any trash in them,in 2008 restoration I looked inside of the fuel tank and could see the rear lowest point and there was no trash at all in the tank.

Also I have the same hose on my Chevelle and last Sunday I got it out and was plying with the NOS fuel system and the exact thing happened, fuel spraying out of the hose.

Has anybody else had this problem and did you change to a different kind or name brand hose??

Does the marine Ethonoal fuel treatments help with this problem???

I'm figuring I need about25-30ft

I also added a 10 micron filter after the fuel pump.

I'm running the Areomotive 100 micron filter on the fuel pump.I have not been running a water separator filter since 2006

I see some are going with the Teflon style inner core hose, but im really want to stick with the steel braid and fittings.I run Chevron 93 oct from the same station every time

Thanks
Rob

anybody ever use any of these Lead Substitutes on the market?

I see Gunk makes some.

Is it a substitute or lead?

Alcohol is tough on gas type fuel systems. Rubber hose and even aluminum fuel line will not hold up, even if you drain the system over winter. Best bet is the Teflon lined hose. I used the same hose and fittings on the fuel system as I did on my A/C system in a car I just built. Expensive but worth it.
