Metalic paint removal help and advise

Recently purchased a baja force and one of the previous owners painted stock lines with metalic clear over the lines how can i remove the metalic and fet the boat back down to the white gel coat again i was told it would have to be sanded if that is the case how should i start this project ? Anyone help will be appreciated

It depends on how well the stripes were applied, it is difficult in most cases to get stripes off without some residual damage or color shift. It is possible but tough, there are some gel coat safe strippers but you need to keep an eye on them they will soften gel if left on for to long. I have heard some guys have had luck with meticulously blocking down the surface with 220 wet till they break through then step up the grit to buff. Its tough to assess without seeing it.
