Default Wanting to upgrade to a faster Cabin Cruiser

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and FL. I have a Bayliner 2252 that I really love back home but it just isn't fast enough so I want to upgrade to a used 22-27 foot cabin cruiser that will do at least 45, but I'm new to this and don't know which brands/models are good. I've found a couple of Regals in the area, a single and a double that seem like they've got the engine size to get there, and there is also a Formula 280 ss for sale in the area. While top end is my priority right now I can see using it for overnights/weekends on the water so cabin comfort is important as well.

A second question: how do you tell what the maximum rating is for your lift, or are the newer ones commonly up to 10,000lbs?

Thanks very much for any input!

I'm certainly not much of an expert on cruisers (not really the focus for most on this site ) but the formula will do better than most when it comes to performance. The quality is certainly there and it would make a nice boat for occasional overnighting. Can't comment on the Regal, I have never been on one.

The lift should have a capacity placard somewhere on it...

Welcome to the forum. The hull truth might be a better forum for cabin cruisers though. Formula is the easiest choice but there are other options.

Thanks folks,
Yeah, this isn't the best forum but the other forums I've visited don't seem to address top end too much for cabin cruisers. I kinda want to haul a@@ when I want too but also take my wife on comfortable overnighters -- will be retiring soon and kids almost out of the house Just want a comfortable v-berth for two with the usual amenities and shore power.

Thanks Artie,
I like what I've seen on this site so will keep on it and keep learning but if you know a good site for express cruisers let me know.

Cheers, Kev.

You can do that with a go fast and have a respectable top end. What's your budget or size limit?

AC, refrigerator, intercom system, GPS, electric bolsters. Loaded cabin with enclosed electric head and shower.

We just spent 12 days on our 382. We have a Gen, AC, Vacuflush, and a comfy bed but can still run 70 MPH The ride is much, much better in rough water than any SS or cruiser can deliver. Obviously budget, storage, etc. play a major part in a decision. You should take a close look at some of the offshore boats with nice cabins, they might surprise you. Look at the Active Thunder, Formula, Donzi ZX, Powerquest, and Black Thunder. All have great cabins for go-fasts.
