I have a 40' Skater with Sterlings making right at 1050hp on 93 octane.
I'm currently running Herring 16.5 x 37 props. We are going out to test in about an hour to see what they will do.
Any current or former Shootout runners with similar power/boats have advice?
I think this is a good all around prop size but I'm wondering if I will be able to pull a bigger prop and get more speed in late August.
I'm hoping for 125mph ish this year without breaking something or killing myself.
(Please don't turn this thread into a Sally safety officer discussion, I will have an experienced throttle man)

Need WOT rpm and speed numbers to make decisions.
Boat attitude and trim levels as well as slip % all play into the final decision.

Sorry, what gears are you running?
Also are those your actual numbers? I assume so. Also, is 6200 where Mike want's you to spin those engines?

1:35 gears
I think rev limiters are 6400.
Can we go bigger?
We ran a trial Shootout pass. Hit the gate at 40mph then run 1 mile. I saw 131mph on the GPS during this trial.
Myrick is at Nauti Marine and is the gatekeeper for the boat.
Tony at Native Racing Engines is my motor guy.

Sorry, When we get this serious, looking out the window will not get us where we need to be.
I'm not trying to sound condescending. But, I need as true and accurate of numbers as you can provide.
Actual rpm and speed and water conditions and a dyno sheet from Mike D is the only way I can get to the bottom line with your LOTO desire.
Actually, after that info is obtained, the chances of me needing more is likely. Please understand, I will do the best I can but contacting me directly is your best bet with the time line you are asking for.
