Default Is it safe to go to Miami to buy parts?

Found some stuff I would like to buy, but it's in Hialeah, Florida. It's a Craigslist ad and the guy says he keeps his boat there at his dad's.
Says he is a business owner. Sorry, but we have never been down there. So do I need to go packing or what?

Hey JV... It's just like anywhere else, if not too far and you have seen pictures of what you want and he answered all the right questions it may be worth the ride... Guess the prime quesitons are what business does he own, marine or not, and does he seem like a scammer... CL is quesitonable at best but if you do your homework it might work out... In reality not sure how far I would drive but if it's a great deal it might be too good to be true... K

NO!! They'll likely kidnap you, brainwash you and put you out on the street turning $13 tricks............................. Seriously, its probably less about the location and more about the seller. Feel the guy out and if you think he's legit, you might tap one of our local OSO brothers to check it out. If its good, have it shipped.

Ask the guys that answered the Craigslist add for a farm hand job in Noble county Ohio. Wait they shot them and they are dead. I bought a motorcycle jack last week from a Craigslist ad, I have my CCW and I went packin, glad I did. The neighborhood was real bad, and so were the folks selling the jack, it was probably stolen and I wanted to pass on it based on the situation. But the dude came down real low on the price said he needed the money real bad. People are robbed all the time because of Craigslist ads, think about it they know you are going to have cash on you. If you can legally carry, then this is one situation you should, no matter how well you feel the person out and think they are OK.

here is something I just thought of doing right now while reading this

if there are pics of the parts listed in craigslist then save a copy to your desktop and use google image search

https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi (click on the camera and then upload the pics from your desktop)

if the images come back to an add that is not the same person that you are dealing with then you know you have a very big potential issue at hand because they have stolen someone elses pics and used them in their add.....major scam alert

there is another www image search that I believe is more complete than google, but I don't remember what it is

you can always ask to meet the person at a local police station. if they are legit they wont mind and will understand. if they get pissy or whatever then I'd prob back out of the deal. I have a ccw and there are some situations even that wont be enough. Just be smart and listen to your instincts there is a reason we have them.

They will kidnap you and brainwash you into speaking spanish and being a proud cuban. I really think this thread is useless.

Tell them you are a Cop and on your local police dept's Swat team, then when going into Miami don't get off I-95 on any exit south of 79th st. If you have heat, Take it, Don't go alone, meet in a public place....
