Default Better ride question... 88' 311 Formula TRS VS. 91' Scarab 31 Excel Bravo

I have someone looking at 2 boats, I know the 311 personally, so I know the ride is good with TRS in a 311, but how do 31 Excel Scarab compare???

311 502/500hp TRS 74-75 GPS proven

Scarab 502 not sure hp, Bravos but the guys "says" 81 mph gps... one engine hurt though

Just wanna see how the ride is compared...at them speeds...

I think the scarab will be faster but the formula will ride better.

the excel hull is a very nice designed hull. granted i have only a 21 excel but that thing rides like its on air bags when we take it out. it handels very well. I love my excel. I have zero complaints about the ride.

Both are great riding boats, the excel hull was an amazing performer, but 81mph? It would have to at least 500hp a side to hit those #'s. I had a Scarab Panther, a little over 450 a side and clocked ar 78.6mph, with TRS.

I have a 1988 wellcraft nova 26 ft and can honestly say its the smoothest riding hull ive ever been in (under 30 ft). Not sure how similar the excel and nova hull are but wellcraft made an outstanding hull back in the day.

I call BS on both speeds. The 311 must have new power as there were no 502's in1988. What year are the engines and how many hours? Can you get a test ride in both? How about surveys? You could potentially be facing near term cost that could cost big $ on both.

NO BS on the Formula pal.... it was my buddys old boat and I been on it for years before he sold, ran 80 with the aluminum heads and 525 cams, then was returned to HP500 heads and cams before selling, ran 74-75 after that...has 502's we put in...the boat was a beast, search Lake Effect from years ago.... he now has a 107mph 353...no BS
