1999 Avanti 33 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Does anybody have firsthand knowledge of this boat?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-...exp=true#v4-38

Or is anybody in the area who could go look at the boat? Email me at [email protected].

Thanks

Tom

I had a 33 Avanti. Stay away. The hulls crack. Boat ran well and looked good. Dennis ran the company into the dump. He was last selling cars in NJ. Could have been great boats, he never upgraded the stringers to solve the problem

another dude on oso has a smaller 24' version, he said his looked like it was rigged by a teenager. and he just lost a big chunk of gel coat off his 24 recently...

i have seen several of their cc boats selling really cheap...

Some of it is true. Dennis was and is an A$$OLE, but he didn't design the hulls or the boats. Very few 33's were built and I guess it is a touch and go with the lay up. YOu have to really know what to look for. Hulls built on Monday or Friday... lol like anything else. I know Fountains, Donzis and Baja boats that just fell apart. I been pretty lucky. I took mine through some serious seas and got the vids, and not even a tiny stress crack. True, that mine hull was "planned" for Dennis's son, ( may be some more attention to the build) who eventually got a different smaller boat, but I am very happy. Needless to say Dennis didn't rig mine. Lightning did it in Tampa. The boat runs well, takes chity water great, but needs a little bow lift, so propping is tricky.
Rat... the CC's being built are totally different boats and company.

I have a question.. The recess in the deck that runs from the bow all the way to the companion door. Does water get into the cabin of the boat? Are there drains of some sort built in, to prevent water from leaking down into the cabin?

Heard that there were 2 avanti's. The ones built in South Fl, and the ones built in New Jersey. Heard the Jersey ones are the ones to avoid. I got two questions about the ad on ebay.....1 there is no mention of the superchargers on the engine WTH? Seems like a plus to me...2. Are they really turning 34p p 4 blades?
