Default 454 mpi ?

Took my 99 powerquest razior 22 out last weekend and
Apparently the sea pump went out. This was my first experience
With this. Temp went to 200 and then felt some harmonics in the
Floor. I opened the engine hatch and it had burnt a hole in the
exhaust rubber tube. Haven't tackled the pump rebuild yet.
Just wanted some opinions if I need to flush out the system and
change stat or could there be other issues because it got hot.
This happened to precious owner because it has a low pickup
on the Bravo 1 outdrive. Sand is the culprit I'm sure. I had just
Left the beach not five minutes before it happened. Thanks Shane

Im not sure why you would have to change the thermostat?

Youll need to flush the system if the rubber sea pump fins are not in the housing. (they will be stuck in the coolers most likely)

Other than putting on the rebuild kit for the sea pump making sure the coolers are clear and fixing the burnt exhaust - you should be good.

Remove the hose at the t-stat housing from the oil cooler (port side of motor) and backflush the system once you have the pump off and make sure you retrieve any missing impeller vanes. Since you are beaching the boat make sure to get the kit that has a new housing and wear plates along with the new impeller.

With this having a lwp I have seen people talking about strainers or moving the pickup. Any thought on that? Does the sea pump go out often? Had someone tell me to

replace it every year. Where is the best place to buy parts? Nobody in my area sells parts for these type boats. Thanks Shane

This was the first time I beached it. It wont happen again. The pickup is below the bullet on the outdrive so it is in the sand before the boat touches the sand. Hopefully everything is

well with the engine and I caught it in time. The thing was still hot 3 hours after it happened! With the crap in the lakes around here maybe I should go to a pontoon boat! lol

Thanks, should I replace the rubber exhaust tubes with high temp silicone?

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRESH DEPENDS ON WHEN YOU PRICE THE NEW EXHAUST HOSES........ I think I paid around 80 bucks for a 20 inch chunk....

I believe some engines that have under water exhaust or silent choice have exhaust shutter valves, those possibly could have been affected.

NAPA also sells them I believe. Most of the people who work in the store dont know that though...

And yes, regular Maint. to change raw water pump every year or so.
