Long story short I bought a 313 scorpion center console out of a boatyard that had been painted along with transom redone, where the boat had sat for about 2 years, problem is the idiots never put the HIN numbers back when they were done, I bought this boat off a cousin who was deported back to the UK and in the mix of the move cannot find the paperwork. Boat was never registered in his name as he intended to put the boat back together when he returned.I've read that there are another set of numbers in the bilge somewhere? I've also looked in the bow to see if it had been USCG registered, but no luck, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are the registration numbers for the boat still on it?
Do you have any pictures of the boat before the paintjob? If you have these registration number it can be backtraced to get the HIN.
I had a similar situation when I got a Sidewinder that the transom was repaired and the idiot fibreglassed right over the HIN! I had to take the reg number and send it in to head office in Kingston Ontario
and have it backtraced.
I'm sure whatever province or state your in has a pleasure craft registration office.

No there aren't any registration numbers, boat went under a complete color change, looked in the bilge today couldn't see anything, just hoping they didn't replace the transom far enough to have taken the second set of numbers off, only other option is to hope he can find the paperwork, which would be sometime this winter , assuming he still has it, or take it to a state trooper and have a new HIN issued for it, but if there are another set of numbers on the boat as I've read in some places I'd rather have it registered to what it was originally, not have a new HIN issued, thanks for any input!
