YEE HAH - New Baja!
#1
Going down to MD to pick up a sweet deal on a 1996 Boss 302. Twin 502 Magnum EFIs, full Latham Steering, and all the extras. On the test ride the Speed read 80MPH. Guy says his buddy clocked him at 82.1, don't know if that's true but I'll see.
Almost went to the dark side (Sonic). At least I don't have to change all my Baja stuff.

Just got Internet access back. We really got whacked by that storm the other day. I had to tow this boat back from MD friday. 6800lbs boat 2000lbs trailer - all with a jeep grand cherokee. 3 hour drive and 1 hours of it the boat was steering! I shined it up yesterday, most it needs is some gelcoat work herre and there. I'll post pics.

Shooter, I am curious how well your Cherokee did pulling this package. I would think its a heavy load for it, although I have never ridden in a Cherokee towing anything.
Have you added or changed the springs in the rear end or made any other mods? What about stopping... I would like to upgrade in the next few years myself, therefore, that is why I have the questions.
Sounds as if you have a really nice boat.

Well,
I would never recommend towing something like this. I was in a spot to get the boat immediately, I also towed it in that hellish set of thinderstorms also. My speed was around 55. The Jeeps really no worse for the wear and it ran fine. But all I have is the Class IV tow pakcage and that's it. I popped the boat in the water at the ramp right by me and that's all the towing I want to do. I have a dock and a lift and that's where it will stay. Braking was most biggest worry coming home - an oh yeah, when the boat felt like it was time to drive on the downgrades... the 302 is 6800lbs add the gas and the trailer @ 1800lbs. My Shooter was a better load and can be towed all day with the Jeep, it's 4600lbs.
Hell it was a risk but I saved myself 15K in the deal!
BTW - Had it out for the maiden voyage around Manhatten. 94 degree heat, 100gals of gas and 7.5 people. Snotty conditions that were comfortable for the first time compared to th 27. Top end for the day 76mph. I really think this can do 80 no problem, YEE HAH.
