Talking Blazing World Record Kilo Run - Set the record straight!

Zipp Express (36 Spectre- poker run edition) Set the record straight with a world record kilo run yesterday in Washington, NC. The first pass was a blazing 115.6 mph pass. Unfortunatly the second pass was timed at 111 (GPS on boat read 115) In any case this was done with stock 500efi's (raced all last year) a testament to Mercury racings engine building capability and Spectre's superfast cat hull. AVg of the two was 113.56mph

I went to the factory last week to get some ideas for my boat from the Zipp team and I can assure you this is a stock setup (Merc engine tags and all) Neil and Dan plan on heading to Cleaveland next week to hold their head high and protect their APBA kilo Record title.

Way to go ZIPP!!!!!!!!

Default I wish I was there!

It seems to be running great.

Zipp is going "Duck" hunting next week in Cleveland!

I chatted with Ted Zoli and he promised a fair race for the Zipp boys. It should be fantastic watching the teams battle it out for the record.

Anyone know the Temperature up in NC? Humidity?

NC is the best place to set a kilo, when Team Yahoo set ours, we say 118 on the gps, and were clocked with radar at 116.

APBA was a little upset, and tore us down a little bit.

You have to remember that was with a stock 36 skater, swim platform, mufflers, cabin with lights and all.

We ran 3 blade props on bravo drives, not good if you want to run long.

Talking uh oh!!

Maximus gets minimized!! I figured you had a little something up your sleeve mojo. Actually I'd love to hook up and go boating. Maybe we could cruise up/down to Sarasota for some fun. Must be some big blowers on that Velocity. But my "***** Ass" is always ready for a little v-bottom snack!

Yahoo- Thats fast what was the engine drive set up?

Tulsa- This big fan is happy. Should be a great race!

Timucin-Hard to explain - 2 different sanctioning bodies two different titles. Also special "one-off" events.

We had HP500, but the carb version not the EFI, stand off box and old Bravo's.

We broke a bravo everytime we raced the boat, always the same side. What was interesting was how well the boat handled, we could go into the turns wide open, and not let up on the throttles.

It was not unusual to take turns at over 100mph.

The boat dominated Factory 3 racing, we won every race we entered that we did not break a drive.

Thumbs up

Curtis,

In addition to the full cabin when both boats were docked side by side the skater looked like it was almost twice the freeboard of spectre. Theres a lot more boat above the waterline!!! You could actually stand up and drive if you wanted to.
