Powerquest not as well known on the East Coast...other areas as well?

Hello fellow PQ owners. I'm curious if just the East Coast (Maryland area) is the only area that many people have never heard of Powerquest boats. Since buying our PQ towards the beginning of last summer I've received a lot of compliments on our boat, but it always seems like when I tell them what it is they look at me with that "never heard of them" look. I wonder if the previous owner would have expanded his reach across the country if they would have survived this economy as it seems like they just concentrated their sales in the mid-west. Once people see my boat they go on and on about the quality of it and how nice it looks, no exaggeration either. Maybe I'm just a little bias, but I think the quality of the PQ boats is superior to other boats and it kills me that they are no longer in business.

Powerquest was known on the East coast just not many sold from what I know. There were a couple of dealers in the North East back in the day. I almost bought one, they were very nice boats and I believe they tried to compete with Formulas Fast Tech's.

There are a few national brands but far more regional brands, such as out west: nordic, laveycraft, howard, eliminator (although u do see quite a few eliminators around). Powerquest was more a regional brand and i think it shows in their resale values outside of the midwest. Sometimes you see a boat sell 5-10k less out west or far east than it would back here in the MW, especially Michigan.

I bought my 270 when I lived in Ontario where PQ was well known, now here in Alberta no one has heard of them. When I was selling the 270 all the calls and e-mails came from the Great Lakes area but no one would come west to buy it. I kept dropping the price to compensate for the travel distance and someone here in Alberta scooped it up; I even delivered it. Great guy and he actually uses it on the same lake as me. We met up last week for a run...guess we're the Western Canada PQ Boaters Club (I don't know of any other PQs out here).

Here in upstate NY on the St Lawerence river PQ is not popular either. Power boating is very popular and there are alot of boats. Some people have heard of them but I am the only one on the river that has one. I think there is a 185xlt about 50 miles from here but thats about it. I love having the PQ for the quality and like being different. Nothing beats flying by a Baja on 3-4 foot chop when they can't handle the chop
