496 Ho's. Still working on My 2 beeps/min issue. Replaced the sea water psi sender and now get beeps at startup but they stop after that. Boat running on muffs on a rack. Also getting 152 code, IAC output. Found black plastic blob on the electrical connector, broke it off and disconnected the connector, inside plug looked ok. Any thoughts?

What engine?
Have you had it scanned for codes?
IACs are common failures. Black plastic blob sounds like a melted connector which is not good. You could have a friend PCM; which can sometimes be fixed.
Do a search on here for 496, IAC, and Rinda scanner. There is plenty of info on the site.

Mercruiser has a connector / small harness replacement for the IAC plug/ connector. I would replace both the connector and the IAC. The part # for the connector I will post it but will have look it up. Both of these items originally come from Ford incorporated by Mercruiser.
Also it is important not to keep running a these motors with a bad IAC as if ran long enough it can knock out your ECM / PCM. Im sure it might have been brought up on here about it, you might want to search that.also. Good luck

I'm not able to get into mercnet at this moment. But if I remember correctly but please double check the merc part number for the IAC connector with a current merc dealer. off the top of my head I think the part # is 84-8M0062026

Pulling this back up as some people asked about connector replacements for their Mercruiser engines. Here is the correct IAC replacement connector if yours is bad / melted / corroded and so on. I will post the rest in the near future. There is a replacement connector for almost every sensor and fuse plus for the cam and crank sensors thru Merc / Mercruiser. FYI
The IAC replacement connector is in post # 4 if needed for whomever.

Brian sorry I did not give you this already as I read a post on here that said you got that and crank sensor changed out. So I thought you were good to go. Anyways I guess that's what I get for thinking.
The info I have on all these new pigtail wiring harnesses I can not find but I have a very good memory. Hopefully what I recall is correct. If you check the Mercruiser part #, It will pull up as a crank PS repair kit 3 pin female. Well its the same one for the cam PS. They now take the same harness plug in connector. Cam and Crank sensor.
GM has changed the design of the cam PS, 3 or 4 times along with the wire harness. 2001 in which was the initial design for the 496 cam PS. Around 2002 mid year it was changed and again in 2004 and maybe one more time since then.
Mercruiser part # should be 84-8M0062021
It should retail around 22 bucks.

I am good, and running fine.
However, I've seen Cam Position Sensor historic codes on both engines. I now own two new (new tan style) Cam Position Sensors. I'm not going to install unless I have a problem, but I will need the new harnesses when I do. Many, many thanks for all your time John!
