I've got twin 454 Mark IV BBC. There is only one alternator. For redundancy if possible, I'd like both motors to have an alternator. But I don't know how that would work.. like if it would convert to 24v. Is it possible to somehow keep it 12v? Any implications come to mind? TIA

I run 2 alts.
Both Batteries go to the big selection switch. One wire comes off of it and goes to an electric post. From the post a battery cable goes to each starter. In a round about way the single wire coming off the alt (thru the dash) makes it way to the post also. Internal regulators on each alt makes sure they don't over charge.
