Default Oh crap, another boat casualty.

Running in some snotty lake erie water yesterday and did a couple hard landing's and broke a k-plane right off the transom. Since it was through bolted, it took some transom with it. That might be the end of my season. At least my pump kept up with it until I got it out of the water. I now need k-plane transom brackets for 280's. Amazingly, the Bennet cylinders survived.

Hey Formula I had a Chitty weekend too I was entertaining some guests this weekend so we went to Kelleys, My friend had his cabin cruiser out and went with us.
He insisted that we dock at Portside since he knew the owner, so they put us on the outside wall I tied my boat with my stern facing my buddies stern so that waves would not break over my rear deck. I came back a few hours later and they had moved my boat closer to his to fit more boats(so close our outdrives were hitting When I pulled my boat out of the water this morning I had a bent prop and chunks missing from my drives I was so fuc#ing pissed. I guess I should have went to the Casino

I was at the Casino all afternoon. Boat is fast red noisy cruiser Rogue 2800, long beak, and I was the fat old bald man sitting at the ouside bar. Had some exciting water yesterday at times. They lost 2 boats and one sailboater yesterday.

Bummer about your props and drives.

Too hot to work on it today. I may just do a temp fix to get me through the rest of the season and do it right this winter. I have to see how badly I damaged the wood and how wet it is. I dont want to leave that water in there, I think that will just make it worse.

I think someone called them Frankentabs. I shoud have made the bracket bigger. I misjudged the amount of force they see at the hinge. I had 2-7/16" bolts through and large fender washers on the inside. It pulled the washers right through the inside of the transom about an inch and bent the bolts like they were butter.
