I'm trying to plan a trip to Tahoe mid September. Never been there, so I am wondering what is there to do? Water conditions and temp? Is it worth towing the boat from Arizona? And most importantly, is there a "prime boating season for Tahoe"
Thank you all for your help

Mid Sept should be very nice. Very warm days and cool nights. Water is always cold.
South Lake is the most "touristy" area. There is the Tahoe keys marina there with launch ramp. You have to get your boat inspected prior to launching so make sure everything is dry. Inspect all your fenders, anchor lines, etc too. If you're in AZ and the boat is out of the water for a few days you should be fine.
Here is info on inspections: http://www.trpa.org/
The Fresh Ketch restaurant is there and they have a pretty good lobster bisque. Bloody mary's aren't bad either.
You have to go up the lake on west side to GarWoods. They have a great bar/restaurant there too (you have to get a Wet Woody but may want a designated driver!). There is also the wooden boat shop next door and they always have some incredible boats there. http://www.garwoods.com/index.html
How big is your boat? The water can kick up in the afternoon with the winds. If you have a small boat you will get rocked. The lake is pretty good size so you can get caught at the opposite end of where you launched if your not paying attention. I never had a problem with my 29 Outlaw but I'm primarily an ocean boater so it was no big deal.
The lake is incredibly beautiful with mountains and forest all around. Lot's of great spots to eat and drink too. You'll have a blast.
I'll be there this weekend.

Also go check out the Thunderbird Lodge and Sand Harbor in the Northeast side of the lake. Also you have to go to Emerald Bay and The Beacon at Camp Richardson for a Rum Runner. The lake is almost 30 miles across North to South and the weather and water conditions can change in the time it can take to get across. Depending on the size of your boat, if you see the weather changing, start heading back to where you started.

You should be fine.
Better wait a while though. Everything is smoked out right now. Can't see more than 50 feet! Eye's are watering and breathing is hard. Yosemite fite is out of control and no signs of containment. Sucks. I'll post photos later.

I clicked on the link out of curiosity, I love the pics of the kids on beach in long pants and coats playing , must stay pretty cool with a high water temp of 68 degrees during peak of the summer!! 1700 feet deep-HOLY shoot, sorta makes me think of lake superior!
