Default Our insurance rates cheaper in the north?

I've always wondered if the same guy with the same boat, age, and record insured a boat one from Florida and one from Mi if they would pay the same or if the north would be less due to less boating over winter months?

How does it work in the insurance world?

Every state has different rates that are related to loss history and risk models. Each state has it's own unique risk factors and hazards that an insurance company accounts for so it's hard to just compare state by state because they have a winter. Florida rates are generally higher due to the year round boating season, increased wind exposure and for certain parts of the State of Florida, crazy high theft rates....
