Ran the Formula 302 LS in the Big Cat Poker run. Yes they were faster but I am not done with her yet.

Isn't that the purpose of poker runs, you don't have to be the fastest just depends on what cards your delt.

We are proud of you for having been there and being able to run that old girl!!! Wonder where some of those rigs that past you by will be in 25-30 years?

How is your restoration coming along and what are your plans? As you probably know by now if you follow this forum I love a 302!!

Well the transom is next. I want to raise the TRS's up. I also get 1 and half 420 Mercruiser I am working on. I would love to hit 70 mph. I the video I was going 57 mph with trs330's.

You know...57 isn't bad with what you have. Back in the day those boats with that standard power would hit 60 with everything spot on. The big advantage they had and still have is that you will (as will I in my 255) go out on a marginal day weather and seas wise and make a good day out of it. All the while the "lesser" boats that may be a bit faster find a lee side of a sand bar or cove and sit around talking about it!!

Your boat with twin 420's should see 70...more importantly...it will cruise for hours at 60.

I saw a 86 302 here about a year ago with twin 500 HP Mercury "Bull Dogs" converted to Bravo I's that was good for a tad over 80.

Food for thought.

Do youn know how much I can raise the TRS drives if I redo the transom?

Probably 3"-4" but if it were mine I would be on the look out for a pair of Konrad "Shorty" lower units for those TRS's. If you decide to rework the transom you may as well upgrade to Bravo drives and enhance your options.
