With twin 225 efi's mine cruised at 42 and did about 55 on its best day.

I'm only seeing 59 with mine and I have 250s, they are a little tired though

i think im gonna buy it. i also found a pair of johnson 300v8 outboards with low comp on one engine i can but for 3k for the pair...... i think the same controls will work for both correct? that are about the same age early 90's, and have the same shape cowlings. thx for the info, rm

Mine 31 Viper did 61 mph on GPS with 2 x 225 EFI merc,s ,not sure if the Viper has the same hull like a CC ...

Buy it, run it with the 225's, and wait for some 300xs's!!!

I had a 30 scarab sport years ago .similar vintage .Hanging two refrigerator v-8 erudes was a mistake I made .It wasjust too much weight on the back .It ran a little faster at wot than the 200 mercs I replaced ,but at anything below close to full throttle it was hanging it's ass low...don't buy the old v-8's MO

What setback did you have with the two V8's? Two Erude V8's are not as heavy as two small blocks and legs but probably you would want to run them on the transom with no setback.

Make sure your transom is sound and some transom knees would be a good idea.
