Default carb'd 454 magnum build max hp stock parts

So I have an '89 Formula 292 SR1 with carb'd 454 magnums. Motors have recently rebuilt and have some nice comp cam flat tappet cams in them.
Motor have nice everything for a stock motor but I was thinking of pulling the heads and porting them putting in some better valves and milling them down to bump up the compression.
I was wondering what I should expect out of the stock parts on a rebuild. I read about guys making over 500hp all the time with 9.5 compression and aftermarket heads and intake. But these heads and intakes already seem to flow well. Just I run 64mph right now and would like 75-80. Also thought about blowers, seems that the exhaust valves stock will get toasted though. Any input in appreciated.

skip the porting and just add blowers and go boating..find a pair of bm250's..those will put you close to 600hp..

Even a pair of 177 blowers will get 525 to 550

If you want to go from 64 to 75mph than you need to add about 150hp per engine. You need aftermarket exhaust to maximize any any engine mods

The mods you're talking about might gain you 30hp.

My advice to you would be leave it alone and go boating.

Hey Griff thanks for the reply. Yes I agree , unfortunately I can never leave well enough alone. And after riding in so many fast boats this summer my 65mph is just not cutting it. I messaged you about putting some blowers on these motors that I sourced out, can you get back to me on that ?

Best bang for the buck would be to buy some 250 B&M or 420 Blowers
