The only reason I would go with Alphas is the availability of parts.

Agreed,,,As tough as it is to find TRS parts here in the US...it will be next to impossible to find TRS parts in South America.

Small blocks and trs? If there good now change the fluid and I don't see why they would ever break.

wow i didn't know it was tuff to find parts for the trs drives in the states. did merc stop making parts for them?

i have magnum fever goin on, i may get over it in the next day or two... i think the 32 manta im looking at will serve my needs better than a closed deck magnum, now if i come across a magnum cc before tues it on...

i am building a pro touring 67 camaro and a blown 48 anglia right now here in colombia. i bring all my parts down from the states but this stuff is easy to find... thx for the advice, rm

what about the MerCruiser velvet drive transmissions, are they bullet proof behind small blocks?

keep in mind when ever i puke one engine they are going to be stroked to 388s, but i see a lot of bbc 330s in front of the trs & trans set up. they seem to hold up as long as you dont build the engines into monsters...

I rebuilt the merctrans in a boat with a small block & trs they are very simple & use ford c6 clutches and I believe a band from a fmx. The input shaft is tiny though, if your not hot rodding with it, it should last a long time. Randy
