This is my first season with my 91 scarab 31. I am trying to learn the proper trim settings for top speed by running the boat at about 4000 rpm while watching a gps speedo and running the drives up until It returns the best top speed. Results have been that when the boat is heavy, with 3/4 fuel 6 people coolers and other random junk once the drives are just above level any more trim reduces speed but when the boat is light its a completely different story. With 2 people and 1/2 fuel and all junk out of the boat It likes the trim all the way up until you would have to go into trailer mode to go any higher. You can feel the boat lift up on the running pad and carry the bow out of the water. Is this normal for the hull design? This is a pic of the boat at 4000 rpm and I am trimming while watching the gps...... didn't realize the rooster tail I was making until I saw the pic.....nor did I expect it

Im running Mirage+ 27's 4000rpm is 60-62 mph when the boat is light. At that speed I am comfortable with placing some of my attention on trim settings and speed, any faster and I am totally focused on driving. At WOT and trimmed up it turns 5100-5200 rpm. Closest thing I have to gps numbers at WOT is from a friend of mine with a 29 fountain with twin 500 efi's that was running right next to me on a recent run. He has a gps speedo right on the dash and allot more driving experience than me. He said I was "near 80" as he was passing me to chase down a 30 outlaw that was in the lead on the last leg of the run.
