2001 lavey craft bottom question

Looking at buying a 2001 lavey craft with a teague 1000hp motor. So has the 2001 bottom been change on current built boats? Was the 2001 bottom a good stable hull? Have not driven the boat yet and am looking to close this deal in the next couple of weeks.

Is that the 29 out of Vegas ?
2001 has the same bottom up to 2007. Lavey intro the 29 in 1999 or 2000. it was one of those years that the 29 started its life.
It was reported up here, in 2007 that Lavey changed the bottoms just a bit. They shaved down the lip on the strakes. A little less lift for higher speed stability was posted by Lavey Jr.

Does the 29 you're looking at have an older Teague carbed 1000?
To answer your question, no the bottom in 2001 is the "full" NuEra bottom. Unless the boat was brought back to Lavey to have the bottom worked on. It's not a different bottom, they only removed 2 strakes and the lip strakes. The bottom change was mainly done to help out the 2750 but has also helped on the other NuEra's.
The 29 is more stable at higher speed with high HP than the 2750 was. I've driven a 29 with the "full" bottom at 95+ mph and felt very comfortable at that speed.

Looks to me to be the "full nuera" bottom due to lifting strakes all the way to the transom at the bottom of the "v". Yes this boat is in Vegas and does have a carbureted Teague 1000. I was told the original owner was in California and owned the boat until about 2 years ago. Ended up at a dealer and the fella that owns the boat now bought it.
Do you guys know this boat?
If it is stable at 95 mph that is good news seeing that we boat at 6100 ft in elevation. Hopefully the drive will survive, a little worried about it.

This was the only 29 built with a Teague 1000 and it was paired to a Bmax drive. This drive took about 5mph away from the boat... It only ran mid 90's MAYBE high 90's.

LAVEY JR. YOU ARE CORRECT ON THE COLORS AND YES IT DID HAVE A B-MAX DRIVE ON IT BUT THE CURRENT FELLA REPLACED IT WITH A XR BRAVO WHICH MAKES ME A BIT NERVOUS. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE BOAT IS WORTH LAVEY JR.? It's a 2001.

In my opinion the Bravo XR is not a good drive for that boat. Not because the XR is a bad drive, but because its a 29' boat with 1000hp... I would suggest either an Imco SC or SCX. It's really hard to put a price on a used boat without seeing it in person. There are to many variables to be able to put a price on it. Seeing it has an XR on it, for me that would give an advantage on a bargain point with the seller. For a rough ballpark I would say at least $60,000... But like I said, it's hard to give it a price without seeing it.

I think the last time I saw it listed for sale it was listed at $110k, then dropped to $85k and sat for a long time. Not sure what it ever sold for. I think $60k would be a good starting point depending on condition, especially knowing that you really need a $15k SCX drive on it. For comparison, theres a 28 DCB v-bottom with a 1000hp Teague in the classifieds that has been listed at $55k for a long long time.

I think 60k is too much. Yes, the drive is not a bad idea....its a complete mis-match. This motor will make so much torque you will be breaking drives left and right. Unless you see physical evidence that the motor is fresh, speak directly to the shop who did the work.....assume its tired. The boat (I've had 3 29's) is great for its size in the rough - awesome in fact for its size. But it is not a boat for speed. Its not a Fountain bottom where you can just keep adding HP's and it just goes faster... I remember talking to Bob Teague about this boat when it was first at his shop for something...he said the boat had too much motor in it.
One cool thing is when this boat idles in the water....it shifts back and forth due to the lope(spelling) in this big motor.. very sweet.
