Default Thoughts on a 500 EFI with no Serial #

Hey guys heres the situation I found a 2007 Nordic Rage with a nice 500 EFI only 135 hours on it only thing is it doesn't have a serial # on the motor itself. Boat has one, trailer has one, Drive has one, motor doesn't. Mercury said its supposed to be on a tag above the starter or on top of the intake or spark arrestor. The tech said it could be they installed a long block and that would explain the missing serial #. Its matted to a Bravo 1 so they couldn't trace the motor as its not the original setup. I put two video's of the motor running it looks and sounds legit. My concerns are would the missing serial # deter anyone from buying the boat and what kind of price range should it be in since it has no serial #. I am a little iffy but its a good deal.

Scan the ECM to verify the hours.

It could be that the engine was replaced with a Merc longblock reman.

Call Nordic with the HIN.

it should still have the serial number, are there 2 rivet holes directly above the starter boss where the tag may have been?probably wouldn't get too excited if its not there, just make sure you do a mechanical inspection, well worth the money

The boat I'm thinking of was sold as a bare hull to a guy in Texas. He bought the power and had it installed (by me). He only kept it about a year and sold it to someone on the west coast. Seems like I remember him putting a high end sound system in it. Call me. I'm pretty sure this is the boat since you could not get a 500 EFI in 2007.
