Default 242 ls temp question

just picked up an 89 242LS. Love the boat absolutely awesome ride. However im noticing the temp is a steady 160. All my previous boats had small block 350's with 140 stats and rarely went above that. This boat has the 454 mag mated to a bravo one. The previous owner said the temp was always at that. Should i replace the pickup in the drive and throw a 140 t-stat at it or is this normal?

KMONEY....think you are right where you should be at 160. Throw up some pics of the new ride!

Carb motors run a cooler stat than EFI/MPI motors. What is yours?

Registered members can't post pics unless you have an "offsite" account like Photobucket. I am a paying member here but use Photobucket because it's free and I belong to other sites that use V Bulletin that I use it to post pics to also.

Anyway...addressing 160* vs 140*...I think it's a non issue. If it bothers you switch to a 140* thermostat.
