Default Carrie Covers - Opinions

I'm looking at replacing my cover with a Full cover with a draw string to use on the boat while it is in the lift. I have emailed back and forth with Carrie Covers and they have two types of covers, the one I was curious of is the more durable cover for mooring. Has anyone had one made for their boat and what do you think of it? Does it keep the boat dry or does water seep through? I've bought a cheap cover in the past found the boat to be soaked after a good rain. Are they durable and I can expect to last 5 years or so?

Carrie covers are outstanding.
I have ordered 6+ of them over the past few years,,,,,,,, I have used them for small race boats( 29 OL) to 47 pleasure boats,,,,,,, The color, fit, finish were alway outstanding,,,,,,,, Get some extra "loops" on it when you place an order..................
You will be happy working with them

I bought my 05 in late 07 and it came with a Carrie cover. It was great for a couple years but in 09 water got through it on a regular basis. In 2010 a wind storm ripped it to shreds. Got a quote from then to replace it for $1300. Ended up buying a similar cover online for $300. It doesn't fix as good as the Carrie, but close enough. 3 years without any problems so far.

Thanks, did you order the more durable covers or the "dust" covers?

Of the 6+ Carrier Covers that I purchased, 1 was a more durable material, and the other 5 were all light weight material( total mass about 10 to 12#).
3 or them on the race boats, they put logos on them to match the sponsor graphics. we used them when the boat was on the dock, ( on a lift outside) and when on a trailer at a race site or in our building. They only took a couple minutes to put on and off and still in great shape. One of them I gave to the new owners of the Fountain SVL- 30 "JD Byrider"
The large one for a 47 V Bottom is so easy to put on ,( with one person) and keeps the boat clean. I had the back half of the cover the heavier material, ( around the engine hatch) and the front 2/3 the lighter material
The one, I had made for a 38 Center Console, was a bit of a challenge, so we had the area that went up over the center console area made out of the heavier canvas and the rest of the sides, deck out of the light weight material. I recall sending this one back to them a few times to get it configured correct, but they did it in a few days each time

There maybe more economical methods to find a cover, but if you are looking at investing in something that is custom, high end, great fit and outstanding quality, I do not think you will find anything close to there products.
Good Luck

I too bought the Best Carrie Cover for outside use at $1300. It has two summers on a lift and it is failing.(water seeping through and becoming bridle)

Tell me about the $300 competition.......

They are great to handle due to light weight, but, mine turned to dust in two years. I went back to heavy canvas for less than half the cost and have had it for about 6yrs.

I too purchased a Carrie Cover back in 2006 and it went to shreds inside of 3 yrs. It was way over priced for it's lack of fit, performance and longevity. I would recommend a performance polly guard carver cover, I paid $500 for one and it has 5 years on already and still hold up very well.

Thanks for the input, I think for my use on a lift with no roof I am going to just have a local guy make the cover.
