Looking at a boat that is in Canada. How hard is it to get across boarder and to be able to get registered in the US, ie Texas?

It is easy if you have people doing it for you who are familiar with the process. If you try to do it yourself, it can be a real pain.

Do you have a clue who does this? Any idea on cost?

Look at the customs website and contact your DMV, I am sure everything can be found out there.

You need a broker... I learned that the hard way. Basically .. The usual paper work for a sale and get a broker. The broker will likely ask you to call and get them(border crossing you have chosen on the American side) to wave the ACE manifest. The broker will get you to fill out a bunch of paper work... Then they should give you an entry number. After that it should go smooth. On a side note..... I will likely never do it again... It took years off my like. Get Double R to do it.. lol.

It is much easier the other way. Canada does not nickle and dime you going over the border. They take just the tax for boat and you do trailer later. USA on the other hand takes money, money ontop of your state registration and tons of hoops to jump. Pay the professionals. Dont get a sour taste for the boat before its even at your house.

I just brought a boat across this year to Michigan. You don't need to hire a broker. As long as the boat was manufactured in the states. It took 10 mins of paperwork at the border. You have to show them a bill of sale & they send you home with import papers so you register your boat with the state. I think they charge you a $25 fee

I bought my boat in Canada and Pete from Double R was extremely helpful. He is also very knowledgeable on the performance stuff if you ever need it. Definitely worth a call.
