I have my 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 torn down for new ball joints currently. Debating on whether or not to put it back together with OE style hub assemblies or upgrade to the Yukon Gear "Spin Free Kit." This would allow the wheel ends to unlock from the axle shafts allowing better fuel economy and reduced steering effort according to mfr. Has anybody done this yet and what were your results. My current thought is that a couple axle shafts turning won't amount to a hill of beans when towing my 311. Thought?

A .5mpg would be quite substantial and worth it to me..
If one was to go from 15mpg to 15.5mpg, its quite worth it. Lets say 10000 mile increments. If one averaged 15mpg for 10k miles at $3.50/gallon, that is $2333 spent on fuel in the 10k miles. At 15.5 would save nearly $75 for every 10k miles. Not sure what the kit cost, but, hey $75 is $75.
But now after seeing what the kit cost, it probably would not necessarily be worth it.
