Default 30' Spectre w/300xs's How to drive it, Motors Trimmed up, No Trim, some Tab ?

I know what you're thinking, but Im serious, haha

This is not my first Boat., I've had a Mod-V with a 300xs, but not driven a "True Tunnel", I do own another Cat as well as a 36 Concept.

I just picked-up a 30' with 300xs, I have not splashed it yet, the previous owner told me not to take off with the motors trimmed all the way down, he said it will bury the nose a little bit after it come on plane, I mentioned to him that you can stop the motors from going all the way down by moving the Bolt up to the next position below the motor and that would do it. So is it something I should just leave alone because I might want to run the motors all the way down sometime ?

He also said to leave the motors level with "No Trim" and just adjust the Plate a bit when it hops.

It's running Sportmaster Lowers with 3 blade cleavers, sorry haven't looked to see what size they are, (I'd say30 or 32's) the boat has seen 102 mph on gps.

Any input would be greatly appreciated !!

Thanks

The boat should run the best at neutral trim. However you can use the trim while running the boat for a better ride a various speeds. The tab is only there to take out the midrange hop. Don't use the able for anything else. I am curious as to why he would say no to trim the engines all the way in when getting on plane.

He said it would bury the nose or broach a little as the bow came down.

That's odd. I wonder if he was using the tunnel tab too. Something is not right. That boat should be fine at low speeds with the trim down

After spending a day playing with the Motor Trim and Tunnel Tab, I could see what he was talking about, your right though he must of had the Tunnel Tab all the way down, I tried it with the Tab down while getting on plane and it did bury the bow pretty good.

Yeah, don't do that. Tab up unless correcting the hop. Also always up in rough water.
