Default Drive for 2001 Daytona 26

I am looking into putting a Blackhawk drive on my boat. What are your thoughts and at what height should the propshaft be. The measurements show that if I install the drive on the boat as the gimbals are now the bottom of the bullet will be about even with the bottom of the boat 1 foot forward holding a straight edge on the bottom of the sponsons.
I have a -2 IMCO shortie on it now and the prop shaft is one inch below the above mentioned line.
I have been told that it should be 1 inch above with a Bravo drive.

The 26 I had a 2" shorty and it was 1" above. I had gained 8 mph from the stock lower.
What motor do you have?
Give it a try and let us know the outcome.

Gary Misenberg worked for mercury marine in developing the blackhawk drive. He should be able to help you with the dimensions if you still need help. 503 545 2469
