Noticed a metal shaving on the drain plug magnet. This is a Bravo XZ on a Checkmate 253 powered by a Procharged 502 (700 hp) Would like to get the drive rebuilt and possibly upgraded. Hoping to find someone local ( Southeast Mi). Any suggestions?

metal shavings on the drain plugs are relatively normal that is why they are magnetized. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are seeing larger bits or your oil is coming out black or you feel or hear something abnormal. Send an oil sample to Blackstone labs for analysis they can tell you if you have some abnormally high concentration of any metals. If you just want to do because of your HP level then go for it.

The shaving that has me concerned is about 3/32 wide and 3/16 long. I would love to not touch the drive this winter. But thought it would be a good idea so that I do not have troubles during the summer.

yeah that does sound like a big piece, but if that is the case I agree with you have it done now so you can enjoy it in the summer.

I had a bearing going bad in one of my drives and the oil would come out black after 25 hours and the other drive oil still looked new. Changed the bearing and no more issues. I didn't have any unusual chunks of metal on my magnets though.

Sounds like a tooth is flexing and the hardened surface is flaking off. Make sure you are running a premium gear lube like Amsoil Severe Gear or Neo.
