here is some good reading on the race from long beach to san fran back in 1966.

when we find another set of props we will give this record a shot. it is around half the distance we did from New York to Bermuda and close to shore so we will need less then half the fuel and not much safety gear. in reasonable seas and no break downs we should be able to do this run in 5.5 hours. What is the actual record time?
