Default Prop and prop shaft height.

I bought a 2001 - 26 Daytona. I put one of my 650 HP engines and -2 shorty from the SCARAB in it. I have been told that the prop shaft should be 1 inch higher than the lowest point of the rear step just forward of the transom. I am building a -3 inch shorty that will put the shaft at 1/2 inch above.
Where are You guys running yours and what prop are You running?
Will I need to run a 5 blade with the higher X.
What diameter prop?
Thanks
Steve

CLA - are you measuring the bottom of the transom or the bottom of the back step that is about 10 inches forward of the transom. What drive and prop are you running?
