Default So will it all be worth it in the end?

So..thinking about doing a cam and valve train swap in my 502...right now its just a 502 mpi swapped over to a carb, with a hp500 intake and carb..and emi manifolds..I thinking about upgrading cams and springs, and lifters and rockers..thinking it will be in the 550hp range after all done (hopefully) My boat runs 69 mph on gps now, how much faster does everyone think it will be..5-6mph..maybe..maybe 10 who knows really. Will the cost (close to 2gs) be worth it..or will it be pointless? I know its all personal preference, but will I go out and enjoy the boat more....decisions decisions...

Probably 2 to 3 mph at best. Depending on engine hours, I'd change the springs any call it a day.

Depends on what "redone" means.

Good valve springs that were properly set up are a vital part of keeping an engine together.

I'd leave it alone and enjoy it for what it is. Spend the 2 grand on fuel and beer.

i think a hp500 efi cam with a good set of retrofit hyd roller lifters will net you 2 or 3 mph,is it worth it,only you can make that decision.

Unless you are in love with this boat and plan on keeping it forever, I would save my money. If speed is your goal, START with a FAST hull then worry about upping the power.

The cam change will add maybe 40hp and 2-3mph and IMO, not worth the $$$.
