Default Marine oil filter versus auto oil filter, any difference?

I cross reference this one over and it says Fram PH 30. Is the marine filter any different than a auto filter?

Regular Fram's suck. The Fram racing/HP are much better.
I would(I do) use a Mobil1 (M1-302) or Wix filter.

Just price. I've always run Fram Extra Quards on my 500's from Wal Mart. I notice alot of higher HP motors in pics and on you tube with just the orange Frams.

Cut a fram open and you will change your mind, I have been cutting oils filters open for over 20 years and fram has never changed, still cheap. Go with Amsoil or Mobil 1 or K&N or Baldwin or Wix, Also there is a link if I can find it will show some of the quality of Napa, fram, K&N, Baldwin, Wix or ( google ) " youtube fram sucks" and see for yourself.

Also that Sierra one is not that bad to use either for stock apps. We use Mallory Marine oil filters as Wix makes them for Mallory. All of Mallory Marine products might just come to an end as Sierra ( Sea Star Solutions) just bought them out. That sucks for the marine business who buy aftermarket parts.

Ok I must be a real lucky guy, Have only used Fram HP-4 filters for 40+ years.. 454 flatbottom Sanger drag boat, reved the Pi$$ out of that boat. 20, 25,28 checkmates, blowers, NOS, Meth/Water injected, ran the Pl$$ out of them and never had a lower end problem! Don't see a reason to change now, this Dog is to old to learn any new tricks. I'll take my chances!

Yes, zero difference between auto and marine. The Mobil 1 and K&N are built in the same plant. The Mobil 1 filter has the best beta ratios for filtration of any filter besides amsoils offering. Mobil 1 is rated down to 18 microns. Mobil 1 (contracted champ labs to produce filters) filters are a hybrid type utilizing a "blend" of cellulose and synthetic media. The Amsoil offering utilizes a "synthetic glass media" much like that of which big rigs use. Wix makes a great filter, but they are not in the the same league filtration wise as the M1 or Ams. I use M1 filters after going through quite a bit of data at bobistheoilguy.com.
