Default Changes in 292 over the years

Hi all,
I have recently sold my Powerquest 260 as I have moved out of the country for a few years and am already looking to decide what to buy upon my return.

I am not the all out go fast guy, buy want a balance of family friendliness and performance. This is why I LOVED the Powerquest. It was an awesome 60mph boat that had a ton of great points. Unfortunately, since I won't be back for a while, that will be a little old, or I would consider buying another one.

Ok...so here is the question. I am now interested in a 292 and have one concern. It looks like nothing in the design has changed for a LONG time. Of course, power has been upgraded due to availability, but it looks like the only other changes are paint schemes.

Am I missing something? If I drop 100k or more on a newer newer boat, I would like to have something that separates it from a boat made 15 years ago.

Any other comments from 292 owners would be appreciated too.

Thanks!

newer 292 are more refined and a bit more bling bling, but for the most part its the same as when introduced in 2001, ever heard of don't fix it if it ain't broke???????? I say you want a 04 or newer with the tab indicators and bling bling dash and wheels that started coming out and hydraulic steering, if your lucky and willing to drop coin wait and find a 377 model, now you have a 78/80 mph boat and after intial purchase it will cost pocket change to keep running, unless u run hard 100% of the time anyway

88242LS said it best. Just some additional bling bling added over the years. A few more color schemes and packages were made available. Gauges were upgraded from graffrig to monster Livorsi's. engine packages pretty much remain the same. 350s 6.2s(377). Formula stopped offering the 383s a long time ago. These small blocks are work horses though. Run long and hard with the routine maintenance. 60s all day everyday with 70-73 max.

You want a family friendly performance boat with a lot of creature comforts your looking in the right place. We got a running joke that they are "the gentlemens speedboat".

I have been shopping for a relatively new (1-3years)... And really cannot find much. Searching the web seems to leave almost no new leftovers. Am I missing something? I am not in the market right now, but trying to size up the market. Any recommendations?
