What hydraulic roller cam to use in place of this solid roller cam in my 598's?

What hydraulic roller cam to use in place of this solid roller cam in my 598's?
So I have a pair of chief 598's, with 10-71's, super chillers, low boost 5-7 psi. 900ish.... Hp. Very low hours, fresh, running excellent. But I would like to convert them to hydraulic rollers, from the solid rollers they are now. Don't plan on ever spinning them past 6k. Can someone recommend a cam grind, spring, and lifter combo that would duplicate my current power level, but in hydraulic form?

Right now they surge from about 800 to 1400 rpm. They shift in and out of gear excellent. If I lean out the idle circuit they won't surge, but die as soon as I put them in gear. I kinda like the surge anyway. Yes big props, 37 pitch 17.5 diameter, 18 degree rake.

Rob It has been a while since I've looked into Hyd. Rollers but I'm not sure you will be able to replicate that type of aggressive cam in a hyd roller. but there are many others with more knowledge in that area than me. I hope they will chime in on this. But I bet that motor sounds real strong!

Rob It has been a while since I've looked into Hyd. Rollers but I'm not sure you will be able to replicate that type of aggressive cam in a hyd roller. but there are any others with more knowledge in that area than me. I hope they will chime in on this. But I bet that motor sounds real strong!
. I have been talking with some other people and they have said this should be no problem with today's hydraulic rollers... Just trying to figure out the correct recipe!!

i can pm you with the cam specs in my 588,s if you would like but i recommend calling bob madera,he is up on all the latest products and is very good at picking a cam for any application.i know someone who got a price from bob and then called to compare prices,he bought from bob.

Hydraulic roller in my 598 is 250 258 @ .050 .696 .680 lift I run the morel high rpm lifters. The lifters will go to 7300 rpm they do like some spring pressure 200-225 closed 500-550 open. Oil can't be any thicker than 10w40. I run 30 weight and run the piss out of it with no issues so far. I tried to run these lifters on a solid roller cam when it was first put together and it did not work having preload in the lifter hung the valves open and the motor made no compression. If I set them at zero lash it would run like a champ. Zero lash on a hydraulic lifter in a boat probably not a good thing...

If you pick Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics, then you will have picked the right guy for your cams....when it comes to marine cam specs for a certain application, Bob has been the "go to guy" for many years here on OSO....and he's a very smart dude.
