I can tell you I learned the following things from OSO, including but not limited to:

1) Steps make you spin in a vee. (Well I didn't totally learn that here.)

2) Wakes make you roll in a cat. (Well I REALLY totally didn't learn that ENTIRELY here.)

3) Don't trust any towing company to put a line on your boat, unless life is at risk.

4) Not all water cops are bad, but you may have to know the rules.

5) Not all state troopers are good.

6) ASD-6s may break more often than Merc #6 drives, but if they do, no one has ever heard about it.

7) Cats may and may not be faster than vee hulls.

8) Airplanes may and may not take off if you stick them on a treadmill.

9) Race boats may and may not be cooler than Bayliners.

10) If it walks like a duck and it talks like a duck, you better watch that m@therfocker's feet, cuz that
m@therfocker may just not be a duck.

11) In a poker run, there is no set course usually, so no one can tell you where the projected path of boats is, but even if they could, there might be a slight turn to the left a trailing boat might need to anticipate.

12) If you have a fast boat, people WILL want to race you. It is better to lose than wreck. (Weigh the risks, but remember the downsides, and it is easy to pull back on the throttles.)

13) EFI is better than carbs.

14) Surface drives are better than outdrives. (Feel free to discuss.)(Oh don't be stupid. Yes they are.)

15) The more overlap you have, the further the distance from the motor the discharge needs to be.

16) Boat engines are just like car engines, assuming that car will be travelling a buck and a quarter while pulling a small trailer.

17) The loudest boat is not necessarily the fastest.

18) Air compresses. Water does not. Driving a vee hull through another boat's roostertail will get you a shower. Driving a cat up a roost will get you on youtube.
