Default How cold is too cold to boat for you?

Hopefully getting my boat back in the next few weeks with my new 383s and it has been six months since it was down. I was thinking about it and I am probably going to get out on Lake Travis to see what she will do since the wait is killing me. I think anything north of 60 degrees and it's game on.

How about you guys? What's your limit for winter boating?

I'm going with yesterday.

If any of y'all were on the Bay Bridge yesterday morning, saw a CG RHIB skipping the wavetops @ 40kts and said "those guys are crazy"....well......uhm.....that was me.

Somewhere I have a pic from a SF I was running from the Tower while breaking ice.....that was mine & the boats limit.

I'm a Florida guy now but when I lived in GA I boated all year around into 40's & 50's. Even at 40-50 degrees if you are just idling and enjoying a booze cruise, the sun is quite warm with just long sleeves on. I was on my boat almost every year on Christmas Day

You are totally right. If you dress for it and the sun is out, it's wonderful. I want to slap people when you tell them you were boating and they say, but the water is too cold! YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET IN IT! It's wonderful to be outside and enjoying the scenery.

last summer at the beginning of the session there was snow flying and we where in... some even stuck to the morning cover when we docked and put it on. I boat from late march early April to end of October every year no matter what.

I throw the towel in around 50, yeah the sun helps but moving across the water over 40 or so gets cold pretty quick

Honestly my rule is 80* unless it's something like a parade, fireworks or something special. Spent enough of my life being cold and trying to have fun. Done with that, 4 wheeling excepted.
